The Beast of Reincarnation Metacritic score is 73 on PS5 and 72 on PC as of August 6, 2026. The Xbox Series X page has only three critic reviews and does not yet display a Metascore. These figures are live aggregates and can change when more eligible reviews are added.

Current Metacritic scores

The PS5 version has a Metascore of 73 from 60 critic reviews. Metacritic labels that result “Mixed or Average,” with the platform page showing 31 positive and 26 mixed reviews at the time checked. The category counts displayed may not always sum cleanly while pages update, so the score and total should be treated as the primary snapshot.

The PC version has a Metascore of 72 from 31 critic reviews. Its distribution was 13 positive and 18 mixed reviews when checked. The one-point difference from PS5 is too small to prove that one version is fundamentally better.

Why Xbox has no score yet

Metacritic's Xbox Series X page lists three critic reviews but does not show a Metascore. Metacritic requires enough eligible reviews before calculating a public aggregate, and the page currently presents the score as not available. A future Xbox score is To be confirmed.

This does not mean the Xbox version received a score of zero or was not reviewed. It means the platform-specific sample is currently too small for the displayed aggregate. Players should read the individual Xbox reviews or use broader cross-platform coverage while waiting.

What a 72 or 73 means

Metacritic places these results in its “Mixed or Average” category. In practical terms, reviews see meaningful strengths but do not agree that the full game reaches the same level consistently. The most common positive themes are combat, the atmosphere, Emma and Koo's relationship, and the unusual companion-command system.

Recurring criticisms include repeated enemies or bosses, pacing, shallow supporting systems, camera or targeting issues, and uneven performance. Not every reviewer raises every issue, and some critics rate the game much more highly than the aggregate. The score is therefore a map of disagreement, not a substitute for the underlying reviews.

Why platform scores differ

Each platform aggregate is calculated from a different set of reviews. A publication may review only one version, and the PC pool can include different hardware experiences from console coverage. Small differences can therefore come from the critic sample rather than a measurable quality gap.

PS5 officially supports DualSense vibration and trigger effects, Remote Play, offline one-player use, and PS5 Pro enhancement. PC offers configurable hardware and community fixes but has received some performance complaints. Xbox adds Game Pass access and Xbox Play Anywhere, which affect value even when they do not directly change a review score.

How Metacritic compares with Steam reviews

Steam's user review system is separate from Metacritic's critic aggregation. Beast of Reincarnation showed Mixed purchaser reviews at 53% positive from 1,810 reviews when checked on August 6, 2026. That percentage can move quickly as more verified Steam purchasers post reactions.

The difference between critic and user measurements is not an error because the groups, methods, and scales are different. Steam reflects one PC storefront's purchasers, while Metacritic normalizes scores from selected publications. Use both as context and read recent reviews that match your hardware and priorities.

Notable range of critical opinion

GamesRadar awarded the game 9/10, praising combat, worldbuilding, and story while noting camera and targeting problems. IGN's launch review gave 6/10 and criticized repetition, shallow systems, and narrative execution. Other reviews land between those positions, which explains why a single average cannot capture the full response.

Players interested mainly in the hybrid combat may agree with the higher-scoring coverage. Players who strongly dislike repeated encounters or technical inconsistency may align with the lower-scoring reviews. Reading the verdict paragraphs is more useful than choosing solely by logo or number.

When this page will change

This article records the state of Metacritic on August 6, 2026. New eligible reviews can change the score, the review count, or the category distribution without notice. The Xbox aggregate and long-term user response remain To be confirmed.
